 There
are steel yards and there are "usable" steel yards. Acorn Steel is
a "usable" steel yard engaging in the purchase and resale of
structural steel, such as plate, bar stock, rounds, etc. In the
industry usable steel refers to various shapes and types of steel
and structures that have been retired from their original purpose
for which they were originally constructed but that may have
sections or pieces large enough to be of some use. Such usable
steel can then either be recycled by sending it back to the steel
mills or can be sold directly to industrial or individual users who
can re-fabricate the usable lengths into new structures or
equipment.
We also deal in salvage and surplus items related to
construction and fabrication such as equipment and tools.
Acorn Steel has been in business since 1996. The main reason
for the success of Acorn Steel is the expertise of Bill Ladd,
president of Acorn Steel. Bill holds a BA in Chemistry and has
worked in the
steel industry since 1972. His knowledge combined with the
experience he has gained by working with and in steel operations is
an asset to the individual or industry in search of that particular
item necessary to their construction need. We also buy used steel.
